What other forms of social support/welfare should I know about? (Buddy systems, etc.) Who is eligible? How does someone apply?

The UKR CASH TRANSFER program for Ukrainians is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany and partners ASB-SSK- Unite Together.

The allowance is 235 GEL per person per month and will last from October 2022 to March 2023.

It is filled out by one representative of the family (household) with the registration of all family members staying in Georgia.

At the request of the government, UNHCR, together with World Vision Georgia, will add its own financial assistance to the 3-month state aid for Ukrainians (300 GEL per family + 45 GEL per person) for at least 2 months and allocate 235 GEL per month per person taking into account the existing vulnerability criteria.

Are there any social benefits I can claim such as child support?

Ukrainian immigrants in Georgia who arrived on the territory of the state after February 1, 2022 can receive one-time cash assistance. The amount of payments is 470 Georgian lari for each child in the family.

To receive funds, parents or legal representatives of children must write an application to the territorial or regional office of the Agency for Social Services (search for addresses at the link mceclip0.png). You must have a personal passport and a passport or a child's birth certificate with you. You need to apply for payment by March 1, 2023. In case of questions, call the hotline 1505.

General social benefits provided by the state depend on the respective social score of the person requesting the assistance. For example, families with the social score of 120,000 or lower receive child support in the amount of 100 GEL for individual child under the age of 16.

Local municipalities also offer certain one-time benefits from time to time, so please contact the respective municipality as well.

Ukrainians currently staying in Georgia can count on financial assistance from the Unite Together team. Financial support will be provided to 1,200 refugees. This was reported on the charity's Facebook page mceclip0.png.

The funds will be provided to those who have a difficult financial situation and arrived in Georgia after February 1, 2022. The program provides financial support in the amount of 255 GEL (3,230 UAH) per person during March - June 2023 (four payments). The first payment will be made in April.

To receive the payment, a person must meet the following vulnerability criteria:

  • have a large family (three or more children under the age of 18);
  • be a single mother or father raising minor children on their own and have the relevant documents.

Are there any social benefits for pregnant and nursing women?

Unfortunately, there are no benefits for pregnant and nursing women in Georgia. The only benefit the state provides is the remuneration for the parental leave for up to 1,000 GEL.

There are no special social benefits for elderly refugees from Ukraine. But you can ask the Red Cross mceclip0.png for help.

Are there specific social supports available to me if I have a disability?

Social assistance to persons with disabilities includes provision of both financial (social package - pension, other types of financial support), and technical and other assistance (wheelchairs, prosthetic and orthopedic products and other supporting facilities).

Person seeking disability benefits shall firstly obtain Health Certificate โ„–IV-100/a from any medical center in Georgia, the medical centers will direct the person to the relevant medical center that is authorised by the state to conduct the expertise of Health Certificate โ„–IV-100/a and determine the disability statur of the person. Once the person receives disable status, he/she can apply to LEPL Social Service Agency in order to receive financial or other relevant assistance depending on the disability status of the person.

Citizens of Ukraine who use wheelchairs and are currently in Georgia or who wish to come to Georgia will be provided with accommodation and meals by the non-governmental organization "Anika". The association building is fully equipped and can accommodate 6 people.
